Downtown Christmas Parade kicks off Dec. 2

The WIVK/Fowler’s Christmas Parade will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 on Gay Street in downtown Knoxville.

This year’s parade includes more than 100 different participating groups and organizations featuring floats and decorated vehicles, performances by dancers and marching bands and an appearance by Santa Claus among other attractions.

Country music artist Rodney Atkins will serve as Grand Marshal for the parade.

The parade will form near the Civic Coliseum, between Garages A and B, and will travel along Hall of Fame Boulevard before turning west up Hill Avenue and then north onto Gay Street. It will conclude at the intersection of Depot and Gay Streets.

Free parking is available in city parking facilities downtown, including the Market Square Garage, Locust Street Garage and State Street Garage after 6 p.m. and on weekends.
