Knoxville police are searching for a suspect in the shooting of a woman in a rear parking lot area of 2733 E. Magnolia Ave. Dec. 31.
According to a KPD report, officers who arrived on the scene at approximately 8 p.m. spoke with a witness who was able to give an account of what he had observed.
The witness stated he saw a male, who was standing on the rear deck of the apartment building, fire several shots at the female victim. After firing the shots, the suspect chased the female around a vehicle in the parking lot before returning to and entering the apartment building.
The witness said the woman ran after the suspect, who at this point had closed the rear door to the apartment building. The woman kicked the door breaking the glass in the process, and then walked away.
The officers were speaking with the witness, other officers on the scene located a woman who fit the description of the one involved in the incident, standing near the apartment building.
The woman made statements that she was involved, but did not cooperate with the investigation.
Two shell casings were found where the witness had indicated the suspect was standing. No injuries were reported and no bullet strikes were found to any property or structures in the rear parking area.
