Man arrested in Cocke County drug raid

A raid on a Cocke County home Jan. 2 turned up pounds of suspected marijuana and dozens of pills and lands one man behind bars, according to a Cocke County Sheriff’s Office report.

Officers raided the home, located at 939 Alder Road in Bybee, Tenn., at approximately 9 a.m. Drug activity was being investigated at the home for quite sometime.

Ray Hughes, Jr. faces multiple drug charges after officers reportedly found 16 quarter-ounce bags of what was believed to be marijuana, 27 suspected marijuana cigarettes, and 30 hydrocodone on his person. Also, 3.75 pounds of the suspected marijuana and more pills inside the home along with several more suspected joints and paraphernalia.

A large amount of cash was also found.

Hughes was charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics, possession with intent to distribute Schedule III narcotics, and possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV.
