Man stabbed at LaRumba restaurant, suspect detained

Knoxville police responded to a stabbing incident at the LaRumba Hispanic restaurant at 4900 Chambliss Ave. in West Knoxville Jan. 8.

According to Lt. Savannah Ayub of KPD’s West C Squad, at approximately 1:07 a.m., officers responded to the stabbing call at the establishment.  

A Hispanic male, identified as 26-year-old Elias Euceda, was stabbed by 19-year-old Maximo Cruz, who was identified to security at the restaurant and detained.

Euceda was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he was treated for his stab wound and released.

It was not known how the incident started.

Cruz, who was homeless, is being charged with attempted second-degree murder, and is also being held for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
