McGhee-Tyson Airport announced Jan. 9 that starting March 15, Frontier Airlines will be increasing their presence by offering new nonstop low fare flights three times a week to Orlando, Fla.

“The decision by Frontier Airlines to begin low-fare, nonstop service to Orlando International Airport highlights the airline’s commitment to our community,” said Howard Vogel, chairman of the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority’s Board of Commissioners, in a press release.

“Frontier brought East Tennessee travelers new low fare options last June when they began nonstop service to Denver with connections throughout the West.  Frontier now continues that trend by announcing service to McGhee Tyson Airport’s number one destination — Orlando. The outstanding service offered by Frontier coupled with the demand for affordable fares to key destinations is the formula for Frontier’s future success and growth in our market.”

The new flights will be provided using the Airbus 319 aircraft that seats 138 passengers and features available STRETCH seating with an additional five to seven inches of legroom on every flight along with 24 channels of DirecTV at every seat.

The flights will leave McGhee Tyson Airport at 7:11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Orlando at 8:45 a.m.

The flights will depart Orlando at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Knoxville at 9:43 a.m.

The frequency changes to Wednesday, Friday and Sunday beginning April 16.

Introductory fares begin as low as $59 each way and are available at www.FrontierAirlines.comthrough Jan. 22 for travel through May 22.
